9. Recognition and Popularization
The IELTS test is designed for students from non-English speaking countries who apply for study and training in the Commonwealth of Nations (UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, etc.), and is used to assess candidates' ability to use English. Now many Commonwealth countries also use this test for those applying for their own skilled immigration as a certification of the applicant's English proficiency. Moreover, the number of schools in the United States and Canada that accept IELTS scores is also increasing.
